Welcome to the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center’s ceramics facility! We have a sweet little studio overlooking the San Lorenzo River with diverse amenities for any clay enthusiast. Whether you are looking to get your hands into something new and take a class, attend a workshop, or just need a place to work in clay, we’ve got a variety of options available.
We feature talented artists every year who come to share their talents with us through workshops and special events. And there are always a changing variety of classes available through the year with local artists in wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, functional pottery, and sculpture. As a benefit of membership, we offer studio time for the experienced clay enthusiast who needs studio space.
Your safety and the safety of fellow students is important to us. Please review our ceramics facility policy HERE.
Notice to Students:
4/25/25: Our facility will be running on limited power until our electrical system can be repaired, which will take 3 to 8 weeks. To allow clay work to continue safely under these circumstances, we have made changes to some classes, special firings, and clay lab. Please see listings below for specifics.
In addition, we can only do bisque firings about once every 2 weeks. You must take your pieces home after firing. When we can operate our glaze kilns again, you can schedule your pieces to be fired.
Thanks for your patience with our interim system. While not ideal, it does give some options for continuing your work. Our only other choice was to shut down completely, which would be too sad for all of us!
