A Retrospective: My 50-Year Journey in Art
I love being in Nature and I love doing Art.
For over five decades, art has been my exploration, and nature my constant muse. Inspired by its profound spectacle, I strive to capture its myriad moods through diverse mediums; the intricate lines of pen & ink drawings, the delicate transparency of watercolor, the layered vibrancy of serigraph prints, the rich texture of etching prints, the expressive strokes of acrylic paintings, and the candid lens of photography. Each offering me a unique expression to interpret the natural world.
The early years of my artistic life in India were spent in the contemplative solitude of my studio, translating memories of diverse travels into imaginary landscapes. Relocating to California’s breathtaking central coast unveiled a new chapter for me. Here, I immersed myself in the region’s distinctive beauty; the majestic native trees and sweeping meadows, the patchwork of farmlands and groves, the ever-changing skies, the rolling hills, and the boundless ocean. The quality of light and the deep serenity found in nature, are threads consistently woven into my work. It is a privilege to experience and portray these interactions through art. I feel very fortunate to be in this creative process.
For the past thirty years, my artwork has been exhibited extensively in the local galleries of Santa Cruz, California. I have also maintained a regular exhibition presence in India since the 1970s.
I am delighted to share some glimpses of nature and invite you to explore these in my art. Hope they resonate and offer you a moment of connection. Welcome to my retrospective solo exhibition.
