Art Center Power Issues

Recently the Art Center’s over stressed electrical system has malfunctioned. While we were lucky we didn’t have any serious damage, we did blow a breaker. Our main panel will need to be replaced, and our service upgraded.

We have an electrician ready to go, along with a permit from the county. We are now waiting for PG&E to approve the upgrade in power and to do their part of the work. PG&E has given us a time frame of between 3 and 8 weeks. Until then, we’ll be running with less than full service.

During this time, we appreciate your patience and ask you to help by:

  • Checking the website to see if any services have been limited (like the number of wheels we can use).
  • Looking to see if we’ve had to reschedule any events or classes.
  • Not using any electrical appliances that heat up, like irons, heat guns, the microwave, or space heaters.
  • Letting us know if you have ceramic pieces that need to be fired (we’re looking at ways to use our gas kilns and options for other places to fire).
  • Letting teachers, docents, or ceramic-studio attendants know if you notice any changes in lighting (like flickering), or things shutting off.

We’re looking forward to our new, upgraded service that will let us do everything we do more reliably. And, again, thank you for your understanding.
