About my paintings
Having spent much of my life out of doors, my paintings reflect my connection with the
landscape as I experience it; whether on my own land, or in some of the most remote areas
in the country. That is where I find beauty and where I can make sense of the world.
From a more traditional landscape style, my paintings are moving toward the abstract, or
what I call minimalist landscapes. Striving to strip away almost everything recognizable as
landscape, I want to reveal just the essentials. Sky and land, coming together as a far-off
horizon, and just a hint of what lies between. Then, instead of depicting a particular location,
I want the painting to evoke the emotion or memory of place.
