Save the Date: Ceram-A-Rama Is Coming!
Our annual celebration of all things ceramic is coming on September 21, 2024.
Dan and Laurie Hennig will be our featured presenters, describing how they’ve shared an artistic collaboration for more than 4 decades: seeking inspiration that incorporates the parts and turns mud into gold. They’ll show us the next phase of their work—re-envisioning the shards, discards, and unwanted pieces and putting them back together.
Matt Stout will be demonstrating texturing techniques that he uses to such good effect in his soda-fired pieces. This will also serve as a preview for a texturing workshop he’s promised to offer at the Art Center.
Laura and Zach Bailey will present Harvesting and Creating with Natural Clay and will show how they use it to create primitive pottery styles to pit fire.
As always, we’ll have games, hands-on fun, food, and drink, plus music by Highwire.
Event Schedule:
This year, the free fun starts on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00.
- At 11:30 Matt Stout is going to show us how he create cool textures on thrown pots.
- After that, things get competitive with a couple of fun contests.
- At 1:00 Laurie and Dan Hennig take the stage to show us how they collaborate to incorporate shards and discards into their clay work.
- In the last demo at 2:30, Laura and Zach Bailey are going to show us how they harvest and create using native clay.
- Then, at 4:00 our live band, Highwire, will help with out last contest–then provide great music to close out the fun-filled day.
We’ll have food, drink, and ceramics for sale. Drop in any time you like from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and have some good, muddy fun.
