Save the Date: Ceram-A-Rama Is Coming!
Come celebrate everything ceramic at Ceram-A-Rama! This free event is 6 hours of fun with demonstrations, games, contests, kids clay projects, and music. You can buy ceramics and yummy food and drinks. And try your hand at various types of ceramic art.
Drop on by any time between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Music from Karie Hillery with Josh Hansen on guitar starts at 3:00 pm.
Featured presenter, Kevin Wahl, takes the stage at 1:00. He says: “Clay is a dangerous material. It remembers everything — every hesitation, every twitch of doubt — and it never lets you forget who’s really in control. I started out trying to tame it, making respectable pots that could hold soup and tea and the illusion of order. Morris, Yanagi, the Mingei saints — they were my north stars. Honest work for honest hands. Beauty in the useful. All very civilized.
Then something cracked — in the clay, in me, who knows. I realized I wasn’t interested in serving function anymore. I wanted to see what happened when the wheel stopped spinning and the clay started talking back. So now I make heads — big, heavy, unapologetic heads. They don’t hold water, but they hold everything else: doubt, rage, memory, maybe even a bit of joy if you look at them long enough.”
