Asking for your support as the year ends
As we approach the end of 2025, we at the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement in our vibrant art community. This year has been another remarkable journey of creativity and connection. And this wouldn’t have been possible without your active participation.
Our youth and adult art education classes continue to flourish with over 383 participants engaging in a wide variety of artistic opportunities. We’ve once again showcased outstanding gallery exhibits and hosted successful community events, celebrating the incredible talent within our small community. To support as many young aspiring artists as possible, we continue to need funds for Youth Art scholarships to allow students from disadvantaged families to participate.
We are very fortunate to own our building in Ben Lomond. This keeps our overhead manageable but it also makes us, as “homeowners,” fully responsible for paying for all repairs, insurance, and maintenance. As you probably remember, this spring and early summer, the Art Center was partially closed for approximately four months due to a major electrical issue. Financially this meant that in addition to the expensive electrical repair, we also experienced a significant loss of revenue. Our operations have fully recovered and our budget stabilized after our full reopening in August. Unfortunately we had to pay for some of these unexpected expenses with funds from our prudent reserve. One of our top goals for this fundraiser is to replenish our reserve to be adequately prepared for future emergencies.
In addition, our ceramics facility is in desperate need of some upgrades and repairs. New kiln shelves are needed and so are repairs, or possibly the replacement, of some of our aging fleet of pottery wheels.
With all this in mind, we invite you to consider a donation to the Art Center to help us reach these goals. Your support, whether through financial contributions or volunteering, drives our mission and allows us to continue making a meaningful impact in our community.
