The popular SCMAC AAS program was the subject of a front page article “After School Arts Enrich Students” in the Press-Banner newspaper. Interviewing SLVMS Principal Shannon Calden, Press-Banner reporter Patricia Sousa wrote:
The After School Art program has been welcomed by schools with open arms, allowing students to participate in all aspects of art. “Parents have been excited about the opportunity for their kids to be involved in art,” said SLV Elementary School Principal Shannon Calden.
When: Mondays, 2:00-3:30 pm “ERA” dismissal days and 2:30-4:00 “E” dismissal days
SLVMS Bell Schedule
Who: Middle School Students. Class size limited to 16 (including one student teaching assistant) on a first come first served basis.
Where: Room 11. Students may want to bring a healthy snack to eat before class.
How: Please register and pay online.
Cost: $48 per 4-week session. Scholarship assistance available to families in need. Please call 336-3513.
WINTER SESSION I & II=CIRCUITS + ART: According to San Francisco’s extremely cool Tinkering Studios at the Exporatorium, “LEDs (right), wires, coin-cell batteries and switches are all electronic components that can be tinkered with in many different ways. There’s no better way to get introduced to these materials than creating beautiful [artworks] and wearable objects. After building these simple circuits we hope you’ll be inspired to turn more complex ideas into revolutionary art.”
