There are no sculpture classes at the moment, but take a look at classes that have been offered this year.
MOLDMAKING FOR SCULPTURE with Mary Tartaro
Learn various methods of moldmaking to be used in the creation of sculpture including: 2 part plaster molds, rubber molds, and multi-piece moldmaking. Students will create original sculptures from molds of their own work, and found and constructed objects combined. The class will culminate in a final piece for which the student will take away a mold from which to duplicate pieces for sale, gifts, etc.
All materials will be provided, including but not limited to: clay, plaster, mold release agents, found objects, professional grade rubber moldmaking material, loaner molds of forms to incorporate in hybrid sculpture, and all tools neccessary.
SAND CAST METAL SCULPTURE with Mary Tartaro
Learn the process of sand casting and use simple moldmaking techniques to create a finished cast metal piece. Two sculptures will be made in class. Sand casting is a less labor-intensive, more cost-effective alternative to the traditional method of lost wax casting. Students can, in just a 4-session class, go from an idea to a finished work of cast metal sculpture.
The instructor will provide all materials needed to go from the original work that the students will create in the first week from their choice of diverse assigned possibilities, through the molld making process, to sand casting their piece poured in non-ferrous metal. The resulting piece will be ready to display in a fraction of the time and effort required by traditional processes.
