Students will learn the latest trend, and a great form of self-expression, in the illustration world. Working in a mixed media sketchbook, we will be exploring image, text, drawing and painting techniques to create illustrations for a self-portrait poster, favorite book cover, comic strip and a final project. Students will be looking at the work of relevant art/artists, including DC ComicsShepard FaireyMary GrandPré (Harry Potter illustrations) and Mary Jane Begin. Sketchbooks are an essential part of the application portfolio for future exhibitions and most art schools. This is a great opportunity to build a body of work that will showcase your creativity. Experimentation is encouraged. This is a 2-part seven-week class: sign up below for Session I and Session II separately
