Dale Bates Retrospective

Dale Bates was a Raku master who had a friendship with clay for much of his life. He began teaching and exhibiting ceramics in 1965. In 1993 Dale participated in a symposium in St Petersberg, Russia where he introduced the Raku process to Russian artists. He went back to teach many times until his death in 2017. Dale was an important and valuable part of the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center for over 20 years; teaching Raku techniques
and exhibiting his fine ceramics.
