   We always have a need for volunteers, and the rewards of collaborating in our community to help make Art happen in the San Lorenzo Valley are many.

Newsletter Designer (Layout Production Artist)

REPORT TO

DUTIES

Quarterly Newsletter:  receive articles & photos (content) and provide layout, proof, sent to printer, send PDF to webmaster

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

Minimum 1 year

SCHEDULE

About 1 week/quarter

TITLE

Curatorial Assistant

REPORT TO

Curatorial Committee Chair

DUTIES

-       Arrange for consultation and delivery of art from local artists.

-       Catalogue art from local artists (log book).

-       Maintain inventory lists (log book).

-       Submit Payment request monthly for artists' sales/commissions to be paid.

-       Help arrange art in a pleasant display.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

Minimum 3 months

SCHEDULE

One day/week, 2 Hrs, to be coordinated with support staff - usually Tuesdays afternoons

SKILLS

General office skills;  must write legibly

KNOWLEDGE

Basic merchandise display techniques

TRAINING PROVIDED

 

-     Bookkeeping training

-     Curate / hang exhibitions

TITLE

Monthly Literature Coordinator

REPORT TO

Editor of Calendar/Newsletter

DUTIES

-       Oversee group folding/stapling/labeling of Monthly Calendar & info & delivery to Post Office.

-       Create a list of delivery sites.

-       list should include all interested venues, especially libraries, book stores, grocery store, copy shops, art stores, art centers, museums, coffee shops, hotels, and schools.

FELTON: Felton: library, New Leaf, Safeway, White Raven, Rocky's, SLV High and SLV Elementary=7 stops

BEN LOMOND:  : Hwy 9 Cafe, Ace Hardware bulletin board=2 stops

BOULDER CREEK:    Lantot Art Framing, Historical museum, Blue Moon Cafe, library, copy shop, New Leaf Mkt=6 stops

SCOTTS VALLEY: copy shops, Art Framing, Hilton Hotel, library=5 stops

SANTA CRUZ: Santa Cruz: Art League, MAH, Lenz Art, Bookshop SC, Palace, Attic 5 stops

UCSC: 

CABRILLO:

-       Calculate number of publications required.

-       Distribute once a month - calendar and post card announcements,

-       Distributequarterly - newsletter to San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, and Santa Cruz.

Monthly Mailing

TITLE

Education /Adult Class Coordinator / Phone Duty 4ART LINE (telephone line dispatch)

REPORT TO

Education Committee at meetings or via email; also, to the Board via monthly reports (formal, or informal) 

DUTIES

1.      Oversee adult art classes, other than Life Drawing*
includes interview, discussions with, orientation of new teachers, scheduling classes, getting input about scheduling to avoid conflicts in scheduling, assisting new teacher on start-up date (as needed)

2.      Oversee the 4-ART telephone line, garnering and responding to calls, dispatching to appropriate person, and finding a substitute when not available to do so.

3.      To attend Committee meetings

4.      To work with established procedures/forms and update them as necessary to meet the needs of the SCMAC in serving our community

5.      To work with Publicity Committee to inform the community about classes through various means at our disposal including, but not limited to, our calendar and newsletter, schedule of classes, web site, periodicals, radio and schools, and to do on-going recruitment of teachers

6.      To strive to provide quality art education for our membership and community through hands-on and visually enriching experiences in our classes and workshops

7.      To gather and review data concerning SCMAS educational requirements as a nonprofit agency 

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

Varies, but this position should be for a minimum of 2 years

SCHEDULE

Varies according to seasons and times in the month.

Good organization skills; communication skills; experience in some aspect of education

KNOWLEDGE

DUTIES

Research grant funding possibilities, coordinate with Board on grant content, respond to grant deadlines, write grant reports on completed grant activities.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

Minimum 1 year

SCHEDULE

Depends on Grant Cycle: mostly Sept & October, 80 hrs +

SKILLS

On-line research; Organizational skills, Response to RFPs (requests for proposals), grant writing, English grammar and punctuation; Finance & budgeting, detail oriented.

KNOWLEDGE

Word processing/editing

TRAINING PROVIDED

BENEFITS

Docent

REPORT TO

Volunteer Coordinator

DUTIES

Keep Gallery open.  Greet visitors.  Answer questions.  Make sales in Gallery & Gift shop. Clean areas as needed.  Close gallery at 6 p.m.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT

1 day (3 hr time slot)/month

SCHEDULE

3 Hrs time slots:  noon – 3,  3 – 6 pm

SKILLS

Comfortable talking with people; answer phone.  Read Docent Info Instruction book

KNOWLEDGE

Docent Information Book, write receipts, make change, use charge machine

TRAINING PROVIDED

Docent training provided on a yearly basis.
