J.R. Williams follows his passion for art and nature by creating breathtaking watercolor portraits of sea and landscapes from the beautiful Monterey Bay   area of California, as well as Europe and Mexico.  J.R.' s keen interest in architecture, mainly of the Old   World, West Coast  marinas and villages on waterways is seen in his excellent detail in his watercolor compositions.

Bellagio

J.R. resides in Santa Cruz area of the central coast of California with his wife Pat.  Together they travel extensively to capture the world’s beauty for those who appreciate fine art.  He has visited the great museums and galleries to study the work of the masters.

His life long passion for art has included studies in illustration and advertising at the Art Center school in Los Angeles, and with Wayne Thiebaud and Amelia Fishbacher in Sacramento who he tributes for the further development of his technique.  Working for 30 years as a cartographer and land surveyor with daily exposure to the local rich scenery has provided a constant source of inspiration.

Giverny

He is known most recently for his many European scenes, especially those with shimmering water playing against ancient rich-colored architecture and his depth of fine detail.  He has just completed scenes of Collonges La Rouge in Southwest France.

He has a large series of watercolors of Pacific Coast harbor scenes.

Carousal

He often requested to paint landscapes, garden and floral scenes as well as an occasional still life, all of which he does in his detailed style with wonderful color and composition.

J.R. has received much recognition for his work which graces the homes and offices of private collectors the world over including England, France, Japan,  Russia, Canada and Alaska.
